Reuse Swap Store FAQ: First time visiting Reuse Swap Store and not sure how it works? You’re not alone! Here are the answers to some of the questions we get asked most often — from what you can donate and take to how swapping works, Lalamove donations and more.
Whether you’re visiting our store in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur for the first time or planning to send us a donation, here’s what you need to know. 💚
♻️ What exactly is Reuse Swap Store?
Think of it as a community “free shopping” space — but with a different idea behind it.
People bring things they no longer need, and other people can take things they can use.
Give what you don’t need. Take what you need. Keep useful things in use.
You don’t have to make a one-for-one swap. You can take something even if you didn’t bring a donation.
👕 What can I donate?
We accept a range of clean, usable pre-loved items, depending on our current space and stock.
Some commonly accepted items include:
- 👚 Clothes
- 🧸 Toys
- 📚 Books
- 👶 Baby & toddler items
- 🍳 Household & kitchen items
- 🏠 Selected home items
- 🪑 Some furniture
The golden rule?
If you wouldn’t give it to another person, don’t donate it. 😅
Please avoid mouldy, heavily stained, badly damaged or unsafe items.
👟 What DON’T you accept?
Our accepted items can change depending on storage space and current needs.
For example, we currently don’t accept shoes, and we have limited capacity for large or bulky items.
If you’re unsure about something, especially furniture, it’s always better to ask us before bringing it over or you can simply check our list here : Items Acceptable & Not Acceptable to Donate
🛍️ Do I need to donate something before I can take something?
Nope!
This is probably one of our most common questions.
You don’t have to bring a donation to take something that you genuinely need.
Maybe today you bring children’s clothes. Next month, you might find a book or kitchen item you need.
It’s not about keeping score. It’s about sharing what we have.
💰 Are the items for sale?
No.
Reuse Swap Store is not a second-hand shop.
Items are shared with the community for reuse, not for buying and selling.
And please remember: no reselling. 🙅♀️
📦 Can I reserve an item?
We keep things simple:
First come, first served.
We don’t normally hold or reserve items because stock changes quickly and we want everyone to have a fair chance to find something useful.
See something you need? Come by and check it out while it’s still there!
🚚 Can You Pick Up My Donations?
We currently don’t provide our own pickup service, but you can arrange your own transport or send donations using Lalamove or another courier.
Just make sure:
- 📦 Items are packed properly
- 🕐 Delivery arrives during our receiving hours
- 💬 For large or unusual donations, check with us first
No pickup? No problem — your donation can still make its way to us! 💚
🧺 What should I do before donating?
Before packing that donation bag, give it a quick check:
Clean? ✓
Usable? ✓
Still in good condition? ✓
Something another person could actually use? ✓
Perfect. 💚
Please don’t use donation as a way to get rid of things that are already broken, mouldy or unusable.
