Human Needs: Do We Really Need What We Think We Need? Or Is It Just Greed?
Human Needs
In this video, we take you 30 years back to reflect on a powerful question: are our wants truly needs, or are they driven by greed?
Malaysia today faces serious challenges—pollution, increasing diseases, high depression rates, financial instability, and an uncertain economy. But before we blame politics, systems, or fate, we must look at ourselves. Our daily choices and the greed behind them play a major role in the state of our nation.
Back then, life was simpler. Needs were clear—food, shelter, education. But over time, as development grew, so did our desires. We began to crave more: luxury cars, bigger homes, faster gadgets. These were no longer seen as extras, but as essentials. And to feed these “needs,” nature paid the price.
Forests were cut. Cities became polluted. Rivers turned toxic. Mental health declined as people worked longer hours, stressed by debt and competition. Greed, disguised as progress, silently took over.
The video reminds us: true needs sustain life. Greed, however, drains it. It’s time we ask ourselves—do we really need everything we pursue? Or are we stuck in a cycle that harms our health, environment, and future?
Change begins with awareness. Let’s return to basics, live within our means, and protect what truly matters—our well-being and our planet.
